Janet Heckman served as Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region (SEM) at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from February 2017 to December 2019. She worked in Cairo and was also the EBRD's Director for Egypt.

Ms. Heckman joined the EBRD after Citi in July 2012 as Director for Kazakhstan in Almaty. In 2019 Janet was appointed an independent member of the Board of Directors of Air Astana. During her long career at Citi, she held the position of Managing Director in the Corporate and Investment Sector for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and performed a number of functions in local units in the EMEA region, as well as was responsible for global banking relations in Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEMEA).
