Thierry Plaisant is an experienced leader in the field of energy and natural resources, who is responsible for the operational activities and development of the company's renewable energy projects in the country.
Thierry began his career in 1993, holding various positions at Veolia. He was responsible for the development and management of operational activities for municipal water management projects in Kazakhstan, Romania and Armenia. From 2007 to 2009, he represented Vicat Group in the construction project of a new cement plant in Kazakhstan (Zhambyl Cement).
Prior to joining Total Eren, Thierry worked for ten years at Orano Corporation (formerly known as Areva), where he held several key positions. He was the project manager at KATKO, a joint venture with JSC NAC Kazatomprom, which was responsible for expanding uranium mining capacities. He also worked as the General Director of the branches responsible for the exploration and development of deposits in Mongolia. In 2019, Thierry was Senior Vice President in charge of Marketing and Strategy at the Orano Asia Representative Office in Beijing, China.
In his current position since 2020, as Managing Director of TotalEnergies Renewables in Kazakhstan, Thierry directs the management of two photovoltaic solar power plants with a total capacity of 128 MW in Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions, and also oversees the development of the Mirny wind energy project with a capacity of 1 GW (with 600 MWh batteries), implemented in cooperation with Samruk JSC-Kazyna and JSC NC KazMunaiGas.
